Listen: Wye Oak — “Spiral”

Wye Oak contributed a new song to Adult Swim’s 2012 Singles Program entitled “Spiral.” This is the first recording put out by the band since last year’s full-length Civilian.
The duo – made up of guitarist/vocalist Jenn Wasner and drummer/keyboardist Andy Stack – move in a decidedly different direction on “Spiral” than their previous material. They utilize a catchy, programmed beat that is coupled with Wasner’s entrancing vocals that crash in echoed waves.
In writing this song specifically for the Adult Swim release, Wasner said it was ”a great opportunity to experiment with some of these new sonic and rhythmic ideas in a low-pressure context.”
