St. Vincent and David Byrne have released their second collaborative track, “Weekend In The Dust”.
Love This Giant, the new collaboritive album from St. Vincent and former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne will be released on Sept. 11 via 4AD/ Todo Mundo. The duo gave the public their first glimpse of the album with the track entitled “Who”, and now fans can hear another song called “Weekend In The Dust”.
In a newsletter to their fans, the duo explained how the song structure of ”Weekend In The Dust” came about, stating: “David came up with some brass riffs and swells that sounded pretty funky. Annie then wrote a cool vocal melody with words over it. We both arranged her vocal and other elements of the track a bit further—still working with horn samples temporarily. Finally, we passed this one on to baritone sax monster Lenny Pickett, ex Tower Of Power and current Borneo Horns and SNL bandleader, for arranging.”
