Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has a song available from Tim Burton’s upcoming animated film Frankenweenie. The original track, titled “Strange Love,” will be part of the movie’s soundtrack collection on the album Frankenweenie Unleashed!
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Karen O stated that “Tim [Burton] wanted an unconventional, unconditional love song…I went in the direction of exotica and calypso stylistically…quirky, good vibes music of that era…” The tune marries gentle, earnest vocals with percussion, tropical motions, and even a theremin solo!
Karen O joins artists like Robert Smith, Passion Pit, The Flaming Lips, and even Winona Ryder on the soundtrack. Frankenweenie Unleashed! will be up for grabs the same day the movie premieres, which is September 25.
