The Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ frontwoman, Karen O, as well as Passion Pit, Grouplove, The Cure’s Robert Smith, and Winona Ryder will all be featured on Tim Burton’s upcoming film Frankenweenie Unleashed!
Personally penned by Karen O herself, “Strange Love,” will be played over the film’s closing credits. She told Rolling Stone that the song is an “unconventional unconditional-love song.… I went in the direction of exotica and calypso stylistically because it’s quirky, good vibes music of that era and when you throw in a theremin solo it’s a marriage made in heaven…. Frankenweenie is so special, it’s an unbelievable honor to be involved with it.”
The soundtrack is set to come out on the same day as the film’s release date, September 25. Other musicians that we should be looking forward to hearing on the soundtrack are The Flaming Lips, Plain White T’s, Kimbra, and Neon Trees.
Below is the track list to the soundtrack and the trailer for Burton’s next film.
