Joe Strummer Remembered at Strummer of Love EventPosted by Derek Keeling
The Strummer of Love festival is taking place this summer to commemorate the late Joe Strummer.
The event will be held in a secret location somewhere in the middle of the Somerset countryside during the Aug. 17-19, 2012. The event will host numerous globally renowned performers to mark ten years since the former member of The Clash passed away. Strummer died Dec. 22, 2002 of an congenital heart failure.
The festival proceeds will benefit The Joe Strummer New Music Foundation. The foundation was made in memory of Strummer by his friends and family after his death.
The line up will encompass Strummer’s friends and fans who will pay their respects to the influence that he’s had on their lives and music. The event will be able to accommodate up to 5,000 visitors.
The festival also plans on featuring ethically sourced fair trade food stalls and outlets, a range of crafts, art, alternative therapies, healing activism and plenty of Strummer memorabilia.
