James Murphy to Direct Short Film

James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem is collaborating with Ron Howard to direct a short film.
Having just come off a successful documentary filming of Shut Up and Play the Hits (releasing October 9), Murphy said,”I’m just trying to have fun and work in slightly different ways than I have before and not worry about whether things come out at all.”
The film will be a part of Canon’s Project Imaginat10n campaign, where celebrities create short films based on a series of user-uploaded still pictures (upload yours here).
The premise of the project is to create a short film inspired by photographs from people all over the planet. After the photographs are submitted to one of 10 different categories, they are narrowed down to a field of 91 then further reduced to 10 chosen by the celebrities who will direct that particular film.
Other celebrities who will try their hand at directing include Jaime Foxx, Eva Longoria, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and fashion designer Georgina Chapman.
Murphy and Howard are scheduled to go into production on their short next year with a release date of late 2013.
