A Saturday Morning Find: Hundred Waters

Colette Pomerleau / June 28, 2014

Most things I think to say end up seeming bitter, until my senses enveloped the sounds of Hundred Waters this morning. I could only think of the sweetest.

Waking up to their newest release, The Moon Rang Like A Bell, I could’ve gone two ways. Charming melodies float above the subtle push of aggressive waves. Listeners could take the productive or the lazy route. I chose to lay in bed for a bit longer, to close my eyes and envision geometric shapes overlapping in the rhythm of Nicole Miglis‘ vocals. It didn’t take long for the inevitable climax to push me out, rush me into getshitdonemode.
There’s something different about this band. Based out of Gainesville, Florida, they released their first EP Thistle (Remixes) through Skrillex’s record label OWSLA. They’ve supported acts such as Alt-J, The xx, Julia Holter, and BRAIDS. All of the bands have one standout quality in common: they are ideal additions to your sexy nite playlist.

Below, stream “Innocent”, which beckons you to perform activities far from it.

Portland-based readers, catch them at Mississippi Studios on July 25th for your own sound expedition. Pure Bathing Culture and Wishyunu will be supporting.
