Hot Snakes recently performed a Drive Like Jehu song during their recent San Francisco reunion concert.
The group has started to perform again after a roughly seven-year hiatus. Late in 2011, guitarist John Reis put his current project The Night Marchers on hold and singer/guitarist Rick Froberg did the same with his band, Obits to play a handful of Hot Snakes shows.
In the midst of some west coast appearance, Reis and Froberg recently paid homage to one of their earlier projects, Drive Like Jehu in San Francisco. The San Diego band had a brief stay on the planet in the early 1990s, winning over admirers of hardcore punk with screeching feedback and primal chaos shoved into songs ranging from 90 seconds to ten minutes.
Prior to the leave of absence from the rock ‘n’ roll playing field, the band pulled out Jehu songs “Luau” and “Bullet Train to Vegas.” Monday night, Hot Snakes brought another anthem back from the dead: “Golden Brown.” Have a look below
