Frank Ocean, M.I.A., Jack White Get MTV VMA Nods

MTV has announce the nominations for the 2012 VMA’s with nominees including Frank Ocean, M.I.A. and Jack White.
The MTV Video Music Awards began in 1984, and since then the music video award show has garnered mass publicity for celebrity interviews and extravagant performances.
The 2012 VMA nominations have been released, and rising singer/songwriter Frank Ocean has been nominated for three awards that include, Best New Artist, Best Male Video and Best Direction, all for “Swim Good” (dir. Nabil Elderkin).
M.I.A was nominated twice for best cinematography and best direction for her video ”Bad Girls” (dir. Romain Gavras).
The Black Keys earned a shot at bringing home the best rock video award for “Lonely Boy”, but will have to face off against Jack White’s “Sixteen Saltlines”.
Other worthwhile mentions include both Rihanna and Drake leading the the field of artists with five nominations apiece. A$AP Rocky might earn an VMA award as his video “Goldie”, which Rocky directed himself, is up for best editing. Lana Del Rey’s “Born To Die” have received nods for both best cinematography and best art direction, while Lil Wayne somehow pulled off a nomination for best video with a message for “How To Love”.
