After half a decade of hiatus, various other projects and an excellent return with 2011’s “The Fire, The Steel, The Tread,” Florida’s Hot Water Music is back in business. Their forthcoming full length album, Exister, is due on May 15th. Rolling Stone has blessed those unable to suffer the wait with a free download of “Drag My Body.” The track shows off HWM’s trademark raspy dual vocals, brilliantly understated guitars and freight train rhythm section, but it’s also gained some of the best elements from Chuck Ragan and Chris Wollard’s solo projects. Surely, it’s distorted, loud and powerful– but the band benefits greatly from Ragan’s journey into the world of acoustic folk and Wollard’s wanderings into straight-ahead rock ‘n’ roll. If “Drag My Body” is any indication, Hot Water Music has become even more formidable in the eight years since their last full album.
Ragan is currently on the road with the Revival Tour.
