Shlohmo (Henry Laufer) may hail from sunny Los Angeles, but his down-tempo, moody compositions feel closer to home to Seattle’s inclement weather. Influenced by DJ Shadow, M83, and Amon Tobin, Shlohmo has used field recordings and introspective beats to craft a uniquely textured slice of electronic music: not quite hip-hop and not quite ambient but resting comfortably between the two worlds.
