Brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll have been recording music since 1989, laying foundational sounds for genres such as Acid House and Ambient. But people don’t say that Orbital are godfathers of “tech house,” or “progressive trance.” Orbital’s status in the world of electronic music is Olympic, seated firmly at the highest peak. Their catalogue spans so much style and distance that, in a world of sub-genres and sub-sub-sub genres, Orbital’s domain can only be described as “Electronic Music.”
