Groundislava (Jasper Patterson) hails from Los Angeles and is a key member of Shlohmo’s Wedidit collective. The beatmaker recently has turned it up a notch, making a lauded appearance at Boiler Room and recently releasing his sophomore LP, Feel Me. His tendencies to incorporate video game, sci-fi, and minimal techno themes into his beats is indicative of the new, young beat prodigy movement. But it’s Groundislava’s confidence in his technique and his exquisite balance between dreams and dance that keep people coming back for more.
