A horror film score for an unimagined movie brought together the duo of Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker, known now as Demdike Stare. This Manchester duo pulls media from all the obscure corners of history’s past and melds them into a texturally sparse and haunting apparition of what was and what is. On opening night of Decibel Festival this year, Demdike Stare will be doing exactly what it was that brought them together – re-creating and re-imagining a film score – this time, instead of a film that doesn’t exist, it’ll be for 1970’s surrealist Jean Rollin’s erotic horror film, La Vampire Nue.
