Hailing from Manchester, England, Andy Stott’s slow-burning, densely layered techno compositions are rife with white noise, evoking an almost other-worldly quality. Some songs, in fact, are so muted they sound as if they’re being played underwater. Vocals float in and out disorientingly, and the pulsating house beats holding tracks together resonate with static. It’s music made more for zoning out than for dancing the night away.
