As cover bands go, none have generated such excited chatter recently (or ever?) in Seattle as “The Rolling Stones”, a six person all star cast of local musicians dressed as sailors and playing tunes by The Rolling Stones. As far as performances go, Friday night’s Capitol Hill Block Party hoe down at the Cha Cha Lounge was drunk, loose, and energetic. What else would you expect from a Rolling Stones cover band? All the tunes were solid, especially those incorporating the three man horn section. Mick Jagger in residence Jordan Blilie sauntered about hugging his friends and strangers all the while bleating out the hits. The amount of people singing along with each tune seemed to involve a good half the room at any given time.

Bottom line, this is a bunch of staple Seattle musicians performing Rolling Stones tunes with their friends, and they do it well. If you are a fan of The Blood Brothers, Past LivesFlexions, Truckasaurus, or Whale Bones, then chances are you will find this amusing as well as entertaining. Check out more photos below and head over to the Seattle Weekly to read Eric Thompson’s interview with them from early June.
