CBGB closed their doors in October of 2006. To many people it was an untimely end of an era. Not anymore, they’re back.
Before the infelicitous death of CBGB founder Hilly Kristal in 2007, there was serious talk about the New York landmark somehow being brought back. Talk has turned into action.
Recently the CGBG website has announced that it is taken on the form of a festival. Music, film, conference, and drink are a some of the words that adorn the websites one and only page. Very little information has been officially released with exception to the minutest link to Sonicbids and Facebook.
The Sonicbids link takes viewers to a veritable sign up sheet for the festival. Based on information from Sonicbids the festival is expecting a rather massive audience of somewhere in the neighborhood of half a million to one million people.
A plethora of genres all eligible to sign up for the festival. Genres include alternative, americana, avant-garde, bluegrass, blues, classic rock, country, folk, funk, goth, jam band, jazz, latin, metal, pop, punk, reggae, rock, singer/songwriter, and world.
The website states that the festival in going to be in New York City from July 4-8 of 2012. It also ends the webpage by simply stating: Get Ready Get Loud Get Heard.
More information will be presented as it’s released.
