Capitol Hill Block Party 2012: ReignwolfPosted by Tiffany Wan
Reignwolf is a madman. Seriously, where did this guy come from?
The stage name of Canadian rocker Jordan Cook, Reignwolf slayed the Capitol Hill Block Party crowd at Neumos Saturday evening with his virtuoso guitar licks and raw vocals. Since the age of 15, Cook has more or less been considered a guitar prodigy and has even shared the stage with legends like B.B. King and Van Morrison.
Armed with just a guitar and a kick drum, he started off his performance playing solo. Cook’s gritty voice and the thinly-veiled innuendo of his lyricism (one choice line talked about putting “it” in a girl’s “backyard”) was like a powerful aphrodisiac for many of the older audience members hootin’ and hollerin’ during his set. I honestly can’t blame them. Who doesn’t feel just a little amorous after hearing some one shred and smack the blues out of a guitar until it seems like his fingers are going to bleed?
