In a world of free downloads, electronic instruments, bedroom producers, live streaming and the dawn of a new era in music, there are things we, as an audience, take for granted. And after three days of multi-disciplinary chaos and a plethora of genres being thrown in our faces, it was just so nice to end the Block Party with the still-gorgeous, dulcet tones of veteran indie troubadour Neko Case.
She and her band played their hearts out for a set that seemed to stretch on forever. The sun set serenely behind the main stage, and the crowd ate up every tone, every bit of banter. It was complete 180 from what happened on Saturday night, just a perfect way to end the festival.
