Capitol Hill Block Party 2012: Haunted Horses
Posted by Allen Huang
Haunted Horses were one of the more anticipated acts performing Sunday, and their short but visceral set lived up to all expectations. Colin Dawson and Myke Pelly were hell bent for major spookage, transforming the Cha Cha’s cozy party space into something more sinister. Moans and groans filled Dawson’s looping rig, chaotic yet determined drum fills burned in the audience’s ears. It was the sonic equivalent of a Cronenberg film, with sonic elements meticulously detailed out in grotesque fashion, all for the sake of curiosity. Watching Dawson pound furiously on his loop pedals and hearing the unworldly sounds coming from the band, it was apparent that not a single note was going to waste.
