Capitol Hill Block Party 2012: Absolute Monarchs

I’m thoroughly impressed with the festival organizers’ efforts to dampen the noise between venues. Absolute Monarchs blistering chaotics were something to behold from the main area, but the racket wasn’t audible from the quaint confines of the Vera Stage or deep in the depths of Neumos. There’s a hint of both Jesus Lizard and Hot Snakes in the Monarchs’ supercharged act, and though playing in the earlier slots of long festivals can be awkward, frontman Joel Schneider controlled the stage with a special fury all his own.
