Whalebones rocked the crowd at Bumbershoot 2011. They performed on the Fountain Lawn Stage to a swaying crowd and a packed beer garden. While the trio usually consists of Justin Deary on guitar/vocals, Bradford Button on bass/vocals, and Faustine Hudson as their drummer, she will be playing at the Pearl Jam 20 festival going on this weekend. Whalebones brought in quite the substitute drummer who was as easy on the eyes as he was talented on the drums. Attendees were treated to epic electric guitar solos and massive bass lines and drum beats. It was as if Deary performed a sorcery of sort when he played the guitar and put a trance on all who listened; people closed their eyes to enjoy the songs and just fed off the soul that Whalebones produced. The band played songs from their latest (and only) self-titled release that came out earlier this year. There is no doubt that after today’s show that new fans will be demanding more songs and more releases in the very near future and one can only hope that Whalebones will come through with these.
