Bumbershoot 2011: Eisley Marvelously Sings at the Exhibition Hall Stage

Eisley performed for an eager crowd inside the Exhibition Hall early Monday evening at Bumbershoot 2011. The band is made up of all siblings and one cousin from Tyler, Texas. They specialize in girly pop-rock ballads with powerful guitar riffs, where sisters Sherri DuPree and Stacy DuPree share duties as lead vocalists. The band’s strongest assets by far were their voices. Their harmonious combinations shined on songs like “Invasion” and “Marvelous Things,” however their instrumentation fell flat. The guitar felt much weaker than what was expected from their recorded pieces, and perhaps the design of the Exhibition Hall space could be counted as a handicap in their overall sound as well. I’m not a venue design expert, but I know that the sound bouncing off of the many pillars and echoing from the distant back panel of the room could not have been in Eisley’s favor. The band has so much potential for better shows with rich vocals such as theirs, hopefully next time everything will work to compliment this. Check out a video and some photos from the show below:
