BumberPick: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

You never know what you’re going to get out of an Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros show.  This ten-piece band is known for their on-stage theatrics, and their recent show at Lollapalooza drew such a large crowd that fans were climbing trees to get a glimpse of the action.  One of the lead singers, Alex Ebert, looks nothing short of a evocation of Jesus as he belts out lead vocals and reaches out to the crowd, drawing them in with the band’s hippie, psychedelic tunes of their debut record Up From Below.  Intriguing still is the fact that Edward Sharpe is not a member of the band, but rather an imaginary character conjured by Ebert.  Curious yet?  Ebert (aka Sharpe) and his troop put on a stellar show at this year’s Sasquatch!, and they will be playing Bumbershoot on Saturday at 7:30pm at the Broad Street stage. If you missed them once, don’t miss them again!
