Bob Dylan’s famous break-up album Blood on the Tracks is soon to be adapted into a feature length film by Brazil-based RT Features.

According to Variety online, the company has moved in on acquiring the rights from Grey Water Park Productions. RT Features, headed by Rodrigo Teixeira and Fernando Loureiro, will produce the film. Although their Portuguese-language films are what they’re known for, the adaptation is set to be in English.

Blood on the Tracks features some of Dylan’s best work, with tracks like “Simple Twist of Fate,” “Shelter from the Storm” and “Tangled Up in Blue.” Rolling Stone named the album the 16th greatest album of all time, so expectations loom high.

Dylan biographers attribute the steamy heart pained lyrics to the turmoil Dylan suffered during the separation from his first wife, although in his memoir “Chronicles, Vol. 1” Dylan himself claims the songs to have been inspired by Anton Chekhov’s short stories.

Teixeira and Fernando have produced several films that have appeared in the Sundance and Toronto film festivals, as well as the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight screening selection.

Currently no information has been released regarding when the adaptation will begin production.
