Death Cab for Cutie is no stranger to hosting intimate performances, but it’s still exceedingly rare for them to invite a full band to perform on stage with them.  That has changed on the band’s recent tour as they have been playing with Magik*Magik Orchestra for some of their shows.  Frontman Ben Gibbard has embraced the new sound, saying that “having these people on stage with us…has opened up my ears,” suggesting that their next album (their eighth) could be heavily influenced by the new sound.

Death Cab will continue playing an extensive spring summer tour including stops at several U.S. music festivals before wrapping up overseas in August. [Seattle Weekly]
