People’s Republik of Komedy Present: Laff Hole ft. Dwight Slade, Emmett Montgomery, Jim Martin, Jesse Villacis, Holli Pappan, Jim Stewart Allen, hosted by the Uh-Oh Dudes! @ Chop Suey | 06/01 | 9pm | $10 adv | Get Tickets Here
Dwight Slade brings an un-ironic, energetic stage presence to his performances that are rarely seen on a Laff Hole stage– maybe since the time Robin Williams dropped in and did a surprise set while he was filming World’s Greatest Dad with director/comic Bobcat Goldthwait in ’08. Slade doesn’t fast-talk his way through sets the way Williams does but he does get loud and dominate the entire stage with his stature and huge steps. He spent a good portion of his Laugh Lovers Ball set this year doing imitations of various animals and got raucous laughter from the audience the Moore as payment.
Chop Suey is a great, smallish place to catch a decidedly un-alternative comedian that has relentlessly toured the United States for the last two decades and has had several appearances on television including his own Premium Blend special on Comedy Central. Slade is an accomplished comedian with three albums and a recently-released DVD under his belt. Be there.
