Blur entered the studio in recent months much to the excitement of fans, but it sounds as though the recording process has slowed. Reasons for the stall are unclear; the bassist for Blur, Alex James, proclaimed on his twitter account yesterday that “[he] love[s] being in the studio with blur.”

According to the band’s current producer William Orbit, “…Damon, brilliant and talented tho he is, is kinda a shit to the rest of Blur.” The onus of responsibility over the halt seems to have fallen on singer Damon Albarn’s head.

Orbit’s account does nevertheless point to the sessions being positive and fruitful, so, the motivation for cutting them short – temporarily or otherwise – is murky.

Blur are due for a handful of greatly anticipated performances this August.
