Ad-Rock to Perform NYC Pussy Riot Benefit

Beastie Boy member Adam “Ad-Rock“ Horovitz is set for his first live performance since the death of bandmate and close friends Adam “MCA” Yauch.
The show will is a benefit for Russian punk band, and current political prisoners, Pussy Riot. Three members of Pussy Riot, Maria Alekhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Ekaterina Samucevich have been charged with hooliganism. The members have been remanded in jail, and are facing up to seven years imprisonment for participating in a punk rock protest against the presidency of Vladimir Putin. All the proceeds will be given to Pussy Riot’s legal defense.
Horovitz is set to DJ the event, and there will be live performances by Heliotropes, Shady Hawkins and TinVulva. The show is being presented by feminist art collective Permanent Wave.
