A new band will make its emergence onto the Portland rock scene this Friday. theGoodSons (sic) will be making their debut at the Ash St. Saloon. The band is comprised of several familiar faces from bands such as Isolated Cases, Trippy Bummer, Monica Nelson, and the Interlopers (which was one of my favorite local acts until they went their separate ways late last year). As of yet, no recordings can be found online, but based on their prior involvements we can expect theGoodSons to present a solid agglomeration of each of the elements that are commonly found in every good three-piece, specifically: they will certainly be loud, in all likelihood intoxicated, and it will rock.
Joining them will be Knox Harrington, whose high volume wave of big guitar rock makes the perfect accompaniment to beer and general beer related antics. I’ve heard bands who are best paired with a gentle merlot, and bands who should be taken with liberal amounts of bourbon, and at least once a band that was only rightly cocktailed with absinthe. But Knox Harrington is a beer band, and can most likely be enjoyed with a beer of any quality, content, or color. Check out a live recording below.
The evening will be launched by My Journey Between the Holes, a racing, dark prog-rock group who will assuredly get the night off at a fast-paced start.
