The 39th annual Seattle International Film Fest runs May 16 to June 9. With over 400 films, there’s a little something for everyone. But 400 is a HUGE number. So, lucky for you, SSG Music has sifted through the fixin’s to bring you a handful of film suggestions for each day of the festival. Be sure to check back each day for the suggestions of the day ahead!
SSG Music SIFF Picks for June 8:
Drinking Buddies | 7:00pm | Egyptian Theater
Kate and Luke both work together at a Chicago microbrewery, where they have grown to be close friends – and nothing more. Both are in committed relationship but throughout Drinking Buddies you gather the blatant sexual tension between the pair. The rom-com doesn’t prove to be a truly unique plot but offers enough twists and variance to keep you entertained, all while being set against the backdrop of the woods or a real brewery.
Cockneys Vs. Zombies | 11:55pm | Egyptian Theater
While the zombie thriller genre is still a tad saturated from a few years ago, Cockneys Vs Zombies offers a breath of fresh air to the style. Although it is still based in England, the black comedy thriller has 20-somethings running to the rescue to save their grandparents from the massive zombie outbreak in London’s East End – and the elders show them a thing or two about survival. Cockneys Vs Zombies is full of laughs, whether genuine or cheesy, but proves to be worth the long night to go view. While this is a late-night viewing, we do want to let you know that this film is full of blood and gore along with a very colorful vocabulary spoken with an English accent.
