The 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next years inductees including: Public Enemy, Donna Summer, Heart, Albert King, Randy Newman and Rush. They will all be honored at the induction ceremony, which takes place on April 18, 2013 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
“It’s a terrific honor and we’ll show up smiling,” Rush’s singer and bassist, Geddy Lee, tells Rolling Stone. Lee is especially happy for Rush’s diehard fans saying, “it was a cause they championed.”
Public Enemy will be only the fourth hip-hop act to be inducted after Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five who were inducted in 2007, Run-D.M.C who was in 2009 and the Beastie Boys who received their honor just last year.
This Rock and Roll Hall of Fame marked the first time the vote was opened to the public. Votes were taken online and was a “fan’s ballot” that was counted alongside 600 other ballots.
Tickets will go on sale to the public on Jan. 25.
